Short-Term Rental Rules
New York short-term rental rules
Every Florida short-term rental also answers to the state: a DBPR vacation rental licence, state sales tax and the county tourist development tax sit on top of whatever the city requires. Below is what each city we cover adds to that.
What applies statewide
- A DBPR vacation rental dwelling or condominium licence for any unit rented more than three times a year for under 30 days.
- Florida state sales tax plus the county discretionary surtax on transient rentals.
- A county tourist development tax, usually collected by the county tax collector or clerk rather than the state.
- Local rules on top: registration, inspections, occupancy, parking and a responsible party who answers the phone.
